Remarkable Performances

April 10, 2012

There are those that say a School of Music is built upon remarkable performances.  If this is so, DePauw’s School of Music has an embarrassment of riches. Beyond our own stellar performances that happen each week, we have seen two unforgettable performances in the span of  four days. The American String Quartet performed in Thompson Recital Hall and mesmerized the audience with their shining virtuosity, their impeccable pitch and their profound performance. “Flawless” was the word I heard most after their recital. The “A” in “ASQ” could just as well stand for “Amazing”.

Days later, women in our choir got to perform with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra–in both downtown Indy and at DePauw– in an amazing performance of The Planets. The sold-out house in Kresge was thrilled by the well-chosen program (Adagio for Strings, Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto, Planets) and the masterful performance.

A very impressive four days…
