Project Trio Lights Up Greencastle
A great day for Greencastle yesterday. Project Trio came to town to play for School of Music, Greencastle Middle and College of Liberal Arts students and for the entire community. Well over a thousand people were thrilled with their high-energy mix of music of many styles and genres. They covered the “Three B’s” (Bach Beethoven and Brahms)–and Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky to boot– but they also added a little Mingus, Brubeck and a host of brilliant originals as well. The middle school kids loved “Peter and the Wolf”, our evening audience was clearly into the Hungarian Dances of Brahms, and the folks in my section (VP Christopher Wells, my wife Lisa, President Casey and many others) were loving every minute of it. The trio even stopped in the studio for an impromptu performance on the next episode of Music for Life. How can one school have so many cool opportunities? Don’t miss Voces 8 with warmup act DePauwcapella next!
What a great night at the Green Center! My ten-year-old son lasted through an entire instrumental concert listening to flue, oboe, and bass. I would not have thought it possible. I’ll be getting my tickets early for the a cappella group coming next.
This was a remarkable experience for every age group of the Depauw community! The Depauw students had a blast interacting with the trio…this is a great experience to hear about their careers as musicians and to give us some hope for our futures. I am looking very forward to the other guests artists that will be visiting greencastle this school year!
It was an amazing musical event!!!! I smiled through the whole concert. We are so fortunate to have wonderful musicians and super spectacular concerts!!
The Project Trio was a big hit for our GMS band and choir students yesterday. The students really connected with the members thanks to the commentaries, Q & A session, and photo session. Many of the students took advantage of the free tickets for the evening concert as well, and are telling me that it was also quite an event. The students were mesmerized and inspired. Our band and choir instructor is still smiling. Many thanks to the School of Music for making this possible for us.
I have never experienced anything as unique and creative as this music ensemble. Project Trio lit up the room with their hip yet professional attitude and demeanor. They were easily relatable even to non-music students as myself. Thank you to the School of Music for their dedication to reaching broader audiences and I can’t wait to hear VOCES8 next month.
